Create Winter Curb Appeal

Create Winter Curb Appeal

Are you planning to sell your home this winter and want to keep the exterior as appealing to potential buyers as possible? This might feel like a challenging task given the unpredictability of our beloved Shuswap winters. However, it is possible! We’ve rounded up some great ideas to help you keep your home looking great throughout the colder months.

Snow and ice - Keep it clear! Uncleared driveways, stairs and walkways make your home look unkempt. These elements are also a safety hazard to guests and those coming to tour your home.

Clear the clutter - Make sure your yard, doorway and driveway are free of sports equipment, garbage and recycling, and other unnecessary outdoor items.

Repairs - Fixing items that are broken, damaged or worn will not only make your property more presentable, but these fixes are likely to increase the overall value of your property as well.

Add winter greenery - Think a small Christmas tree or two and other cold weather plants to place near the front door and porch area. You can wrap the bottom of them with some burlap or place them in a basket. If you have an electrical outlet nearby, add a string of lights.

Create a soft glow – Proper lighting not only makes your home safer, it also makes it look inviting and cozy. Choose your style - lanterns, strings of lights or exterior home lighting with the perfect smart light bulbs.

Paint - Maybe your front door could use a touch-up or a coat of a modern colour to make it stand out. Consider neutral colours to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and be sure to choose colours that create cohesion with the rest of your home’s exterior.

Update your mailbox and your house numbers – This upgrade helps to freshen up the ambiance of your porch and it also helps to increase the home’s visibility for those stopping by.

If you are looking to sell your Shuswap home, our team is here to help!
