DIY Idea #1 - Bricks and concrete pavers are the easiest patio materials to use because they have a uniform shape and create a relatively flat surface. This is helpful if you want to roll the BBQ across it, use it is as an exercise space with your mat or wear heels while hosting a dinner party. 

DIY Idea #2 - Head over to a secondhand shop or online space and see what people are selling for a fraction of the price you would pay to buy new - think patio furniture - tables, chairs, patio covers, fire tables etc.  

DIY Idea #3 - Add some personality and comfort with outdoor cushions and pillows, candles, decor and strung up lights - make it a whole summer vibe that's usable whether eating your meals, enjoying your morning coffee, entertaining or reading emails.  

DIY Idea #4 - Plants, plants and more plants! Whether it is flowers, vegetables, greens or a bit of everything - utilize the space you have to add vertical plant walls, flower pots or hangers etc. These are the such a great way to enhance your outdoor space! You can get pots from secondhand stores, repurpose items found around your home, make yourself a planter from building material scraps and then head to your local Shuswap garden centre to fill them up!
